POW/MIA memorial seat at Brunswick Auto Mart Stadium is replaced Hussey Seating Company of North Berwick, Maine, donated a new POW/MIA chair of honor to the Brunswick Schools. It replaces the original seat, which deteriorated after eight years of outdoor exposure. The district rededicated the chair on Friday. A chair of honor is a permanently empty seat that is never sold and never occupied. It is held for American service members who were taken prisoner of war or are still missing in action. The chair was originally installed in fall 2018 through the efforts of local donations, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9520, American Legion Post 234 and support of the district. "We are grateful to the men and women who serve and defend our freedoms, and we owe a particular debt to those who never returned from that service," Superintendent Jason Niedermeyer said. "Our thanks to Hussey Seating for making sure Brunswick can keep telling our students that story."
