Volleyball roundup: Kate Schellenberger helps Medina to quadrangular sweep

WESTLAKE — The Medina girls volleyball team swept a non-league quadrangular Saturday behind an outstanding effort by Kate Schellenberger. The Bees topped host Westlake 25-18, 25-21, Berea-Midpark 25-23, 25-21 and Austintown Fitch 25-22, 25-18, with Schellenberger compiling 29 kills. She also had 12 digs against the Demons. Also standing out against Westlake were Eva Myers (6 aces) and Lauren Sherman (14 assists). Myers also had 16 assists against the Titans, with Grace Tabaka tallying 16 digs. Against the Falcons, Tabaka had nine digs and three aces, while Sherman had 16 assists. In other events: Lake Catholic 20-25-25, Brunswick 25-16-12 Huron 25-25, Brunswick 15-16 Holy Name 25-25, Brunswick 23-20 GATES MILLS — After compiling 33 digs, Adalyn Sheets was named to the All-Gilmour Tournament team. Lauren Schuett had 12 kills and five aces, while Addison Shep added 26 digs, 18 assists and five aces for the Blue Devils (1-9).
