22 Years of Caring Celebrated by Free Clinic of Medina County

Cluckin' Cindie and the champagne-pouring Mayor of Medina returned to Buffalo Creek Retreat on Saturday to support the Free Clinic of Medina County's 22 years of Caring Celebration. Mayor Jim Shields continued the tradition of serving champagne to the highest-bidding table, an event that kicks off the live auction. Prizes this year included a night at the new Legacy Hotel and Thyme2 restaurant, Drew Allar Memorabilia and Steelers tickets, French baking lessons from Alain Marec, dinner at The Oaks Lakeside Restaurant, Guardians and OSU tickets, limestone gravel, and a weekend at the Gowe Getaway Lodge. A paddle raise prize of diamond earrings were donated by Wiant Jewelers. Free Clinic board member and Wadsworth Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Janie Parish served as master of ceremonies, entertaining guests with trivia and humor alongside auctioneer Mark Walton. Chuck Sisia of Rogue Goat Entertainment provided lighting, sound and video. In addition to the 30 items in the silent auction, guests were once again treated to donated gift cards from mechanical chicken Cluckin' Cindie's golden eggs. Other games included a wine ring toss, lottery basket and Spirits Spectacular liquor basket. Shields said he enjoys helping the clinic succeed. "The Free Clinic of Medina County is a valuable community resource," Shields said. "I am grateful that this organization exists, allowing us to refer all residents for free care. Their services can be lifesavers when people feel they have no healthcare options, but they have a medical need." The Free Clinic, formerly known as the Medina Health Ministry, was founded in 2004 to provide free medical services to people who live or work in Medina County.
