Local priest celebrates 50 years of service to the community The Rev. Stephen J. Dohner will celebrate his golden jubilee, the 50-year anniversary of his ordination as a priest. He is a pastor at Holy Martyrs Catholic Church in Medina Township. "Father Steve has spent his life bringing Christ's love to all the people he has served," Holy Martyrs Catholic Church stated. "He has touched many lives through baptisms, weddings, funerals, countless moments of prayer and counsel. The parish will be celebrating Dohner's milestone this summer. Medina United Church of Christ, Congregational hosts vacation Bible school Medina United Church of Christ, Congregational hosted more than 70 children at vacation Bible school June 8-12. The children had the chance to play outdoors, sing, dance and make crafts. On the fifth day, they sang songs for their families and had ice cream sundaes. Canine Companions for Independence also brought puppies and talked to the group about its program. "During the week we collected over $300 for Canine Companions for Independence and a lot of needed supplies for Alleycats and Aristocats," Director of Christian Education Stacie Yates said. Oaks Family Care Center comedy night fundraiser Nonprofit Oaks Family Care Center will have its comedy night fundraiser at 7 p.m. July 24 at Hope Church at 1905 Pearl Road in Brunswick.
