Wooster man dies in Homer Township crash

HOMER TWP. — A Wooster man was killed and two juveniles were injured in a crash Thursday at the intersection of Jeffrey Road and Lafayette Road in Homer Township. The crash involved a 2007 Lexus SUV operated by 44-year-old Jason Henry, of Wooster, and a 2021 Peterbilt tractor-trailer operated by a 30-year-old man. The intersection is controlled by stop signs for eastbound and westbound traffic on Jeffrey Road. Preliminary investigation indicates that the Lexus was traveling westbound on Jeffrey Road around 12:40 p.m. and failed to yield at the stop sign at Lafayette Road. The Lexus entered the intersection and was struck by the northbound tractor-trailer. Henry was pronounced dead at the scene. The preliminary investigation indicates that Henry was not wearing a seat belt. Investigators also suspect that speed by the Lexus was a contributing factor in the crash. In addition to Henry, the Lexus was occupied by two juvenile passengers. Both juveniles were transported by medical helicopter to area hospitals for treatment. The driver of the tractor-trailer, who was the sole occupant of that vehicle, was treated at the scene and released. The crash remains under investigation by the Medina County Sheriff's Office and the Medina County Coroner's Office. Agencies assisting at the scene included the State Highway Patrol Medina Post, the Lodi Police Department and the Town and Country Fire District.
