Veronika Tamba

Veronika Tamba (Czirjak), 93, lovingly known as 'Mama,' passed away peacefully Friday, June 12, 2026, at the age of 93 (and a half), surrounded by family and friends. Born January 27, 1933 in Napkor, Hungary, Veronika immigrated to the United States in 1958 and built a life centered on family, hard work, and community. Veronika had a remarkable gift for caring for others and creating community. She lovingly cared for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. She rarely missed an opportunity to cook for someone she loved. Known for her strength, determination, and independent spirit, Veronika was proud to still be stacking firewood well into her nineties, a fact she enjoyed sharing with anyone who would listen. She was stubborn, sweet, hardworking, and fiercely devoted to those she loved. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Tamba; her sons, John, William, and Mike Tamba; her son-in-law, Jim Wilson; her parents; and her brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Liz Wilson; daughter-in-law, Mary Tamba; grandchildren, Veronica Tamba, Glynnis Hughes (Jeremy), John Tamba (Jessica), David Munyan (Melanie), Kristen Paras, Nicholas Wilson (Vanessa), Michael Tamba (Alexis), Shawn Tamba; 16 great-grandchildren; and niece, Aniko Berry. A funeral service was held in the Waite Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina, Ohio on Thursday, June 18, 2026. She was laid to rest in Spring Grove Cemetery. Veronika's legacy lives on through the family she loved so deeply and the countless lives she touched through her generosity, strength, and unwavering care for others.
