Bike Medina County begins its 2026 Slo Roll program

MEDINA — Bike Medina County kicked off its series of community bike rides by slowly cycling from Champion Creek to Lake Medina together on Thursday. Bike Medina County First Vice President Tim Smith said he and President Beth Schnabel formed the organization about 10 years ago. The group now has a tradition of going on "slo rolls" every two weeks during the summer, which comprises going on a slowly paced group bike ride that is between 8 and10 miles long in different parts of the county. The following slo rolls are scheduled for this year: Mallet Creek to Valley City using the Lester Rail Trail on June 18. Participants meet at York Township Park at 3878 Columbia Road. Yacht Club to Buckeye Woods on July 2. Participants meet at the Chippewa Yacht Club, which is south of Oaks Restaurant and south of Longacre Lane. Cy Hewit Park to Sterling on July 16. Participants meet at the Seville United Methodist Church at 74 W. Main St. Chippewa Rail Trail to Handel's Medina on July 30. Participants meet at the Chippewa Rail trail at 5700 Chippewa Road. Lester Rail Trail to Medina Dairy Queen on Aug. 13. Participants meet at the back of the Medina County Career Center at 1101 W. Liberty St. Plum Creek Park to Brunswick Lake on Aug. 27. Participants meet at North Plum Creek Park at 2390 Plum Creek Parkway. The group meets at each location at 6:15 p.m., and the ride starts at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome to join, but kids younger than the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Riders are required to wear a helmet and bright clothes, and Bike Medina County highly recommends front and rear blinking lights. Bike Medina County will also have its Lake to Lake bike tour on the morning of Sept. 12. Riders will start and end their approximately 20-mile cycling trip at Buckeye Woods Park while exploring Medina County's back roads and trails in the meantime.
