Medina celebrates guitar store and hair salon opening in the city

MEDINA — Public officials from Medina welcomed Rios Guitar Co. & Music Store and CC Hair Salon LLC to the city during a ribbon-cutting trail on Friday. Rios Guitar Co. & Music Store Benjamin Rios, who owns Rios Guitar Co. & Music Store, said his father gave him his first guitar and taught him his first few chords. His appreciation for guitars started at 4 years old, and he began learning to play songs he liked on guitar by age 10. "You don't know where it's going to take you until you just keep doing it, and eventually you're somewhere where you're impacting others," he said. "That's what I want to do. I want to make sure that the community continues with the music." Rios' tagline is "musician owned and musician managed." The store at 645 Lafayette Road offers the retail sale of instruments and equipment, repairs and music lessons. "We pride ourselves in keeping the community musical," Rios said. "We have some of our students here today. From when I bought this place in February to now, I can hear the difference, I can hear the growth and I can hear the improvement. That's what it's about." CC Hair Salon LLC Carla Calabrese owns CC Hair Salon LLC at 754 N. Court St. She has more than 25 years of experience in the industry. "My dad when he was younger was a barber, and then my mom did hair for a while," she said. "My sisters, all three of us, ended up getting into the hair industry. We've always worked together, and I just enjoy what I do. I love it so much that it doesn't even feel like work." Hair services such as color and haircuts for both men and women are offered at the salon. Calabrese said her goal for her business is to keep growing and expanding. "We want to take good care of you here," Medina Mayor Jim Shields said. "We want to support you, and we want to see you continue to grow."
