Barbara Jean Goshia

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Jean Goshia, who was born June 11, 1937 in Lima, Ohio, to Lilas Alberta (Donovan) Hamilton and William Lloyd Hamilton, and was raised in Ottawa, Ohio. Barbara passed away peacefully Sunday, May 10, 2026. Barbara graduated from Ottawa Public Schools in 1955 and began her career at Sylvania Electric. In 1959, she married the love of her life, Frederic Goshia. Together they shared 53 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2012. In 1974, Barbara made her home in Wadsworth, Ohio, where she became a devoted member of the United Methodist Church and an active participant in her community for many years. She volunteered for 20 years at Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital, where she managed the snack bar, warmly greeting visitors and staff and leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her. She was also a proud member of the Woman's Club of Wadsworth and enjoyed playing bridge, golf, and dominoes, always bringing joy, laughter, and friendship to every gathering. Barbara will be remembered most for her deep love of family and her incredibly kind and caring heart. She had a special gift for making others feel welcomed, valued, and loved. In the final year and a half of her life, she lived in Florida with her daughter and son-in-law, embracing this new chapter with happiness and humor. She often told everyone with pride, 'I am a Floridian now,' reflecting her warm spirit and her ability to find joy wherever life took her. She is lovingly survived by her children, Gregory Goshia (wife, Terry) and Debra Kopfer (husband, Mike); her grandchildren, Jennifer Fuchs, Steven Goshia (wife, Stephanie), Christopher Goshia (wife, Heather), and Brian Goshia; and her great-grandchildren, Allison Goshia, Gabriella Fuchs, Noah Goshia, Charlie Goshia, and Zoey Goshia. She also leaves behind her extended family, Lauren Fernandez (husband, Matt) and Brandon Kopfer (wife, Adeline), along with their children, Olivia Fernandez, Ammon Kopfer, and Emmerich Kopfer. She is also survived by her half-brother, Robert Hamilton (wife, Dannielle), and their children, Stephanie and William. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frederic Goshia (2012); her mother, Lilas Alberta (Donovan) Hamilton (1960); her father, William Lloyd Hamilton (1970); and her brother, William 'Billy' A. Hamilton (1969). Barbara will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, May 24, 2026 in the Auble-Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth, Ohio, where a funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2026. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. There will be a reception at Wadsworth United Methodist Church, 195 Broad St., Wadsworth, immediately following the interment.
