Notes: Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah won't play in 2026, missing second straight season, after being placed on PUP list

BEREA – General manager Andrew Berry indicated at the scouting combine in February linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah isn't expected to play again due to a serious neck injury.The Browns made it official Friday that Owusu-Koramoah won't play in 2026, placing him on the reserve/physically unable to perform list. They did the same thing at this time last year.6 things to watch at rookie minicamp, including a rare QB and a move to left tackle"I'd say this: We are dealing with Jeremiah from month to month," Berry said at the combine. "I'm not necessarily overly optimistic, but there isn't a hard deadline where we have to make some type of binding decision."Owusu-Koramoah was injured in October 2024 when Ravens running back Derrick Henry's right shoulder drove into the front of the helmet of Owusu-Koramoah, whose neck compressed. He immediately had movement in his extremities but spent a night in the hospital.He hasn't spoken to reporters since the injury but did an interview with the team's website discussing his acceptance into the Harvard Kennedy School to pursue a master's degree in public policy. As I lay on the field, unable to move, my thought was only, 'Please God, let me get up.' My season trajectory was aimed to lead my team to a Super Bowl, and to break the Cleveland Browns' record for tackles for loss. In one hit, the pursuit disappeared."In the hospital, doctors told me that the injury would possibly be career ending. The fear was real, but instead of sinking into depression, I reflected on what had already been meaningful to me. Recovery forced me to face a question that I had long avoided. If football ends tomorrow, how then will I be defined? Through my community work off the field, I had mentored young people navigating uncertainty, helped families facing food insecurity, and built programs that gave youth structure and clarity. That reflection grounded me in the understanding that my purpose was never solely to become an NFL legend, but to uplift and empower people. He's appeared in 49 career games, totaling 302 tackles, eight sacks, three interceptions, 17 passes defensed, six forced fumbles and 40 tackles for loss. He signed a three-year, $37.5 million contract extension before the 2024 season.GOOD TO GOReceiver KC Concepcion, the No. 24 pick, participated in the first practice of rookie minicamp after having arthroscopic knee surgery March 12."It felt amazing," he said. "I feel 100 percent. I'm just ready to play."Concepcion didn't have a full workload, including working on the side during special teams drills."We monitored him a little bit, but he was clear," coach Todd Monken said. "He was good to go, and he looks great. We just want to make sure we get through basically this weekend and the first week."Concepcion had a drop during individual drills and caught a slant from Taylen Green during seven-on-sevens. He almost made a difficult leaping, twisting catch on a pass behind him, but cornerback Aaron Harris broke it up as they went to the ground.WELCOME ABOARDThe team announced the signing of 12 undrafted rookie free agents before practice, including Utah defensive end Logan Fano (6-foot-4, 252 pounds). He's the brother of Spencer, the No. 9 pick who will play left tackle.The group of 12 undrafted free agents is seven defensive players, four offensive players and Oklahoma State punter Wes Pahl. Three of the defenders are ends: Fano, Florida's Tyreak Sapp (6-4, 273) and Vanderbilt's Khordae Sydnor (6-2, 264).Sapp started 26 games for the Gators, totaling 20 sacks and four forced fumbles. Sydnor had 14 sacks and 24 tackles for loss over his career with Purdue and Vanderbilt.The Browns didn't draft an end or a cornerback. They signed two undrafted corners: USC's DeCarlos Nicholson and Delaware's Nate Evans.The Browns also signed two running backs in Mississippi State's Davon Booth (5-8, 192) and SMU's TJ Harden (6-0, 218). Booth started eight of 12 games in 2025 with 553 rushing yards and seven touchdowns, adding 15 catches for 165 yards and two touchdowns. Harden began his career with UCLA. He started six of 13 games as a senior, leading SMU with 787 rushing yards and scoring 10 touchdowns.The other signees were: LSU defensive tackle Bernard Gooden (6-0, 280), Auburn tackle Izavion Miller (6-5, 306), Boise State safety Zion Washington (6-1, 208) and Baylor receiver Kole Wilson (5-7, 177).WORTH A SHOTOne of the tryouts invited to camp was receiver Jalen Reagor, the No. 21 pick of the Eagles in 2020. The 27-year-old has started 27 of 64 games, catching 86 passes for 1,037 yards and four touchdowns.He didn't appear in a game last year. He was released by the Chargers with an injury settlement and returned for a short stint on the practice squad."Certainly most of the tryout guys you're bringing in are younger players, but obviously we want to take a look at Jalen," Monken said. "He does have a skill set and I thought he did a great job today."PICKS SIGNEDThe Browns signed eight of their 10 draft picks before the first rookie practice, including Spencer Fano. The deals are slotted due to the rookie wage scale, and Fano will get $32.25 million for the four-year contract.The two picks who remained unsigned were Concepcion and safety Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, the No. 58 pick in the second round.The others to sign were receiver Denzel Boston, tackle Austin Barber, center Parker Brailsford, linebacker Justin Jefferson, Green and tight ends Joe Royer and Carsen Ryan.EXTRA POINTSThe NFL announced the schedule release will be Thursday night.** The Browns claimed defensive tackle Elijah Chatman (6-0, 278) off waivers from the Giants. He was undrafted in 2023 and has appeared in 22 games with three starts, totaling 24 tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery.** Former Ohio State long snapper John Ferlmann was a tryout participant. So was linebacker Reid Carrico, who started at Ohio State and finished at West Virginia.** The Browns designated punter Nik Constantinou as its international player.
