Nate Witsaman appointed as Ward 3 councilman in Brunswick

BRUNSWICK — Brunswick City Council recently appointed Nate Witsaman to fill the vacant role of Ward 3 councilman. Witsaman, a six-year Brunswick resident, has a Bachelor of Science in marketing and a Master's of Business Administration. He is the president of the non-profit Friends of Brunswick Parks and is a co-chairman of Elevation - Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park. "I'm grateful for the opportunity to serve Ward 3 and the city of Brunswick," he said. "I take that responsibility seriously, and I'm committed to being approachable, responsive and engaged with residents throughout the ward." In April, Brandon Lambert announced his decision to step away from his role as Ward 3 councilman. Witsaman will take over the city's committee positions that were vacated by Lambert on the economic development committee, finance committee and the planning and zoning committee. "I hope to be a thoughtful, accessible and solutions-oriented member of Council who focuses on the issues that most directly affect residents' daily lives," Witsaman said. "That includes supporting responsible growth, maintaining strong city services and infrastructure and making sure Brunswick remains a safe, welcoming and financially stable community for families and businesses alike." Witsaman said he wants to make sure residents feel like their voices are heard and stated his commitment to preventing their homes from becoming a highway. "Good local government works best when people know their concerns are being listened to and taken seriously, and I want to help strengthen that trust between Council and the community," he said. A media release from the city of Brunswick stated Witsaman will be sworn-in before Monday's Council meeting. "Whether we agree on every issue or not, my goal is to represent the community with professionalism, transparency and common sense," Witsaman said.
