Photography studio opens in Brunswick

BRUNSWICK — Karen Hoinke is aiming to create long-lasting memories through her photography studio in Brunswick. The Northern Medina County Chamber Alliance held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Karen Hoinke Photography at 1087 Pearl Road in the Hickory Ridge Plaza on Thursday. When Hoinke was a child, her parents purchased her a Kodak camera, which she used to take pictures out of airplane windows when they were going on vacation. She became drawn to the creativity of photography. "A magazine called 'W' had such creative photos in there," she said. "I was like, I can do that." There are two sides to her work: business photography and family photos. "I do branding portraits, grand openings for businesses and product photography for businesses," she said. "Then the flip side of it is the family life cycle. I do maternity, family photoshoots with little kids and graduating seniors." Inside her studio are sets filled with different types of furniture, decor and backgrounds to take pictures alongside. Hoinke said she will also take photos at different locations. "If customers look to me for a recommendation, I always head to the parks because it's always so nice," she said. "I know places like in Hinckley where you can photograph and have an awesome setting of nature." Hoinke has more than 20 years of experience capturing photos of family, food and weddings. She said that in a world full of artificial intelligence, she believes in the authenticity of photography. "I try to take authentic photos. That's my goal, whether it's business or family," she said.
