Brunswick's Tomas Rimac signs with Vikings as undrafted free agent

Brunswick native Tomas Rimac was not selected in the NFL Draft on Saturday, but the Virginia Tech guard still found a home. The 6-foot-6, 317-pound Rimac signed with the Minnesota Vikings that evening, joining Medina's Drew Allar (Steelers), Cloverleaf's Kyle Juszczyk (49ers) and Wadsworth's Mitchell Evans (Panthers) to give Medina County an unprecedented four active players in the league. Rimac played every position on the offensive line except center in his lone season with the Hokies. He previously was a three-year starter at West Virginia, where he was honorable mention All- Big 12 as a junior in 2024 and on The Athletic Freshman All-America team in 2022. Rimac tested excellently at Virginia Tech's pro day, running a 4.95 40-yard dash, which included an elite 1.66 10-yard split, and bench pressing 225 pounds 29 times. Rimac was a left tackle at Brunswick, earning Division I honorable mention All-Ohio as a senior. He also was the D-I state champion in the discus with a distance of 175 feet, 11 inches and still holds the county record in the shot put (63-8 1/4). Rimac would join Clay Pickering as former Brunswick students to appear in an NFL game if he makes the Vikings and sees action. Pickering played basketball at Brunswick, transferred to Archbishop Hoban as a senior, took up football at the University of Maine and appeared in nine games at wide receiver for the Bengals, Bears and Patriots from 1984-87.
