Maynard D. Hershberger

Maynard D. Hershberger, 87, of Wooster, went home to be with the Lord on Monday evening, April 13, 2026, at WestView Healthy Living in Wooster after a period of declining health. His beloved wife, Carole was by his side. He was born April 10, 1939, outside of Fredericksburg, Ohio, to John and Matilda (Hostetler) Hershberger. Maynard married the love of his life, Carole L. Oswalt, on September 18, 1960, in Loudonville, Ohio. She survives. He previously worked as a self-employed Real Estate Broker in the area for many years. Maynard attended Church of the Saviour in Wooster for many years before moving to the Medina area, where he resided for the last 30 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing, but mostly loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his beloved wife, Carole, he is survived by his son, Brent C. Hershberger of New Philadelphia, Ohio; four grandchildren, Maggie Hershberger and Sarah Hershberger both of Tennessee, Samantha Stillo of Akron, Ohio, and Shelby Cladio of Georgia; three great-grandchildren, Scarlett and twin girls, Caroline and Vanessa; a sister, Bernadine Sindlinger of Apple Creek, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Vivian Hershberger of Benton, Ohio; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Gina (Hershberger) Stillo; his son, Todd Hershberger, and four siblings. Services will take place Monday, April 20, 2026, at 3 p.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home in Wooster with Pastor Brent Durham officiating, followed by entombment at Sherwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Wooster. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service (2 to 3 p.m.) at the funeral home on Monday.
