Food packing event at St. Francis Xavier Today, St. Francis Xavier is participating in a Cross Catholic Outreach event to pack 60,000 shelf-stable meals for the hungry. Most will be shipped to countries like the Dominican Republic or hurricane-damaged areas of Jamaica, but 10 percent of them will stay in Medina County. This parishwide Lenten almsgiving project involves raising $19,800 and completing hundreds of volunteer hours. Volunteers of all ages will work three-hour shifts at 14 assembly lines to measure, weigh and pack rice and bean meals. Parish Arts Fairlawn Lutheran concert Parish Arts will have a performance by organist Matthew Wachtman at 4 p.m. Sunday at Fairlawn Lutheran Church at 3415 W. Market St. Parking is available at the Summit Mall and the church. Keeping Connected meeting The Keeping Connected monthly meeting will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 16 at Medina Methodist Church at 4747 Foote Road. As a community project, speaker Jan Simmons will show how her Prospect Pantry, which has provided food and clothes to anyone who needs assistance. The lunch donation is $8, and all are welcome.
