Esther E. Schempp

Esther Elizabeth (Wuthrich) Schempp, 97, of Lodi, Ohio joined her Lord and Savior Saturday, April 4, 2026. She was born December 5, 1928 in Milton Twp., Ohio to the late John Ulrich and Lena (Calame) Wuthrich. Esther grew up in Wayne County, Homerville and Spencer. In 1950, she married her loving husband of 69 years, Dean Schempp. She was a member of Homer Brethren Church and later Lodi Congregational Church and worked for Parker Funeral Home, Invacare, and Bailey Manufacturing. Esther cherished her grandchildren and attending their school activities and sporting events. She was a member of Cleveland's Polka Hall of Fame and loved listening to gospel music, waltzes, and polkas. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid baseball and basketball fan. Esther is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (Michael) Jones; grandchildren, David (Vanessa) Jones, Crystal Schempp; great-granddaughters, Kiley Jones, Alexia Schempp; siblings, Nora McQuate, Daniel (Linda) Wuthrich, Donald (Donna) Wuthrich; dear daughter-in-law, Eileen Schempp and family; sisters-in-law, Charlene, Sandy, Mary; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean; son, Gary; siblings, Bertha (Alex) Caesar, John Jr., David, Robert, and Richard Wuthrich; and brother-in-law, Carl McQuate. Visitation will be Saturday, April 11, from 12 to 1 p.m. at Parker Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi, Ohio where her funeral service will immediately follow, beginning at 1 p.m. Reverend David Dake will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Lodi. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Medina location of Hospice of the Western Reserve.
