Brunswick High School artists selected for Ohio Governor's Youth Art Exhibition Brunswick High School students were selected for the Ohio Governor's Youth Art Exhibition. Makayla Dean and Kylee Jones are among only 250 artists chosen from 5,785 submissions statewide to have their artwork displayed at the James A. Rhodes State Office Tower in Columbus. The main exhibition runs from mid-April to mid-May. Dean's artwork, "Bound Voice," and Jones' "Radio Towers" advanced through both regional and state judging to earn their places in the exhibition. The state judging process involves professional artists and college-level instructors from across the country who evaluate thousands of submissions. Buckeye Schools accepting hall of fame nominations The Buckeye Schools Alumni Association is accepting nominations for this year's hall of fame awards. The alumni association seeks to recognize Buckeye High School alumni and members of the community who have distinguished themselves through performance, achievements or made significant contributions to the district. Categories for awards include academic/career, athletic, cultural/performing arts, major donor and special honorary. To be considered for induction into the hall of fame this year, nominations must be received no later than May 1. Nominations are to be mailed to Buckeye Local Schools Hall of Fame, c/s Superintendent, Buckeye Schools, 3044 Columbia Road, Medina, OH 44256. The new inductees will be honored at the alumni association's "50 Years and Beyond" luncheon scheduled for Aug. 12 at Vell's Event Center. Medina curbside yard waste pickup to begin Monday Medina is giving residents the following tips for curbside yard waste pickup, which is set to begin Monday: Yard waste is organic waste generated during regular household gardening and landscaping, including grass clippings, leaves, twigs, branches and shrubbery. Do not include rocks, dirt, sod, plastic pots or bags, food waste or gravel. Place yard waste in plastic or metal containers only. Yard waste in plastic or paper bags will not be collected. Rubbish cans under 40 gallons in size are preferred. Label the container with large, colored letters saying "YARD WASTE." Don't mix yard waste with rubbish. Bundle cut branches with string or twine into 4-foot lengths or less and no wider than 2 feet. The weight of each bundle or container must be under 35 pounds. Place at the curbside on the day of regular pickup by 6 a.m.
