Cathy M. Szalay

Cathy M. (Cooke) Szalay, 64, of Litchfield, Ohio passed away unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, March 14, 2026. She was born April 28, 1961 in Berea, Ohio to the late James and Joan (Fronzek) Cooke. Cathy grew up in Brunswick where she graduated from Brunswick High School in 1979. Cathy worked for many years at the former Super K-Mart in Medina before continuing her career at Target. She found joy in life's simple pleasures-traveling to new places, working on puzzles, and creating ceramics. Cathy treasured time spent with friends over breakfast or lunch, where laughter and conversation were always abundant. Above all, she loved her grandchildren deeply and took great delight in spoiling them every chance she had. She is survived by her daughter, Angela (Kevin) Rohde; son, Tony DiLuzio; grandchildren, Anthony, Jace, Griffin, Bennett, Sullivan, Darrion, Annalise, Caysen, and Keyanna; brothers, James (RaJean) Cooke and John (Lori) Cooke. In addition to her parents, Cathy was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Szalay. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 24, from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Parker Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi, Ohio.
