Buckeye student of the month Julia King was recently named the Buckeye High School student of the month. King ranks fourth out of 176 students in the senior class. Her academic course load consists of advanced placement and advanced courses. She serves as a Huddle leader, Hope Squad leader, freshman mentor and an active member of National Honor Society. She contributes to the Senior Sit-Down podcast, volunteers at soccer kids summer camp and gives her time as a Sunday school and Vacation Bible School teacher. She also works as a tutor and a babysitter. King is a four-year varsity soccer and varsity track athlete and club soccer player. Her athletic honors include Team MVP of the Buckeye soccer team, defensive MVP, All-Ohio soccer, district defensive Player of the Year, team captain, academic letter recipient, district placer in track and first team All-Academic in both soccer and track. ORMACO concert ORMACO and the Akron-Summit County Public Library present "Larry and Joe" as the culminating concert in the spring 2026 World Tour of Music residency at 2 p.m. Sunday at 60 S. High St. in Akron. "Larry and Joe" are multi-instrumentalists and singer-songwriters. As a duo, they perform a fusion of Venezuelan and Appalachian folk music on harp, banjo, cuatro, fiddle, maracas, guitar and upright bass. The program is free. River Corners Road will be closed beginning Monday for 45 days between New London Eastern Road and Black River School Road, bout 570 feet south of New London Eastern Road for road culvert replacement. Local students earn degrees Isabelle Wagner, of Medina, graduated with a bachelor's degree in conservation management in fall 2025 from Upper Iowa University. Race Wickham, of Medina, earned a master's degree in cybersecurity management and policy from the University of Maryland Global Campus in fall 2025.
