Nancy A. King

Nancy A. King, 88, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2026, surrounded by her loving family at home in Sharon Township. Born in Fostoria, Ohio to the late Wilbert L. and Viola (Nye) Deer, Nancy admired her late older brother, Richard, who had a profound impact on her as a young girl. She attended grade school in Bettsville, Ohio, where she would meet her husband of 53 years, the late James D. King. Together, they had three children, Craig King, Mitch King, and Cynthia (King) Doyle. Nancy thrived in creating a warm and loving home filled with music, books and meals from scratch. She was an active volunteer with local schools, Scouts, Camp Fire, clubs and countless sports teams over the years. Among the many milestones of her well-lived life, Nancy was co-owner of Creations of the Past Antiques on the Square in Medina for nearly a decade. As you might expect from an antique collector, her home was filled with beautiful treasures, each piece with character and its own story to tell. For her six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, that was one of the many things that made Grandma's House such a special place. A deeply devoted grandmother and great-grandmother ('GG'), Nancy never missed a birthday, graduation, school performance or special milestone. Her freezer was always filled with homemade chocolate chip cookies, and she seemingly always had a pair of bright white Reeboks ready to lace up for an adventure with the grandkids. Nancy was as tough and determined as they come. Even at 88, she completed difficult crossword puzzles (in pen) every morning, mowed her own grass on her John Deere mower, and hand-built her own garden bed last spring. Over the years, she proudly devoted her time and energy to her community. An active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sharon Center, Ohio, she was a regular volunteer in the pantry and lent her blue-ribbon pastry skills for the Sharon Women's Club annual bake sale. Most recently, she was recognized for 15 years of service at the Oenslager Nature Center (formerly the Wolf Creek Environmental Center). She loved playing the piano, gardening and going on walks. To say she was an avid baseball fan would be an understatement, having never missed a Cleveland Indians game. For many years, she was a member of the Brunswick Hills Ladies Golf League and more recently joined the Sharon Women's Club. Those left to cherish her memory are sons, Craig and Mitchell (Jackie), and daughter, Cynthia (Rich); grandchildren, Brian (Brittny), Lauren (Pete), Matthew (Courtney), Adrienne (Bryan), Katie (Ben) and Olivia (John); and great-grandchildren, James, Ellie, Olive, Connor, Arlo and Scott. Preceded in death by husband, James D. King; brother, Richard G. Deer; daughter-in-law, Joy King. Never one to make a big fuss, she did not wish to have a viewing or funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Medina County Park District (Oenslager Nature Center) or to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sharon Center, Ohio. Nancy believed that the bonds of family were the most important part of life. In her memory, the family encourages you to stop and spend time with your loved ones, share a laugh, and cherish the moments you have together.
