Cavs sign Olivier Sarr to two-way contract

The Cavaliers added to their frontcourt depth Wednesday by signing center Olivier Sarr to a two-way contract. In a corresponding move, the team waived point guard Darius Brown II. The 6-foot-10, 240-pound Sarr has averaged 4.8 points and 3.5 rebounds in 46 career NBA games (3 starts) with the Oklahoma City Thunder from 2021-24. The 27-year-old French native went undrafted following his senior season at Kentucky in 2020-21, when he averaged 10.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocks. Sarr also played collegiately at Wake Forest from 2017-20. During his junior year, he was a third-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection and runner-up for the ACC's Most Improved Player. This season for the G League Raptors 905, he averaged 11.2 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 39 games. Overall, he's averaged 11.1 points, 8.1 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 92 career games in four seasons in the G League. During the 2023-24 season, Sarr helped the Oklahoma City Blue win the 2024 G League title. His younger brother, Alex, was the second overall pick of the Washington Wizards in 2024. The 7-footer is averaging 17.2 points and 7.8 rebounds for the Wizards. Olivier Sarr will wear No. 33 for the Cavs.
