Wadsworth High School bomb threat deemed not credible Wadsworth High School Principal Vincent Suber said about 1:45 p.m. Monday, the district became aware of a bomb threat involving the high school. The building was immediately evacuated, he said. The Wadsworth Police Department, along with bomb dogs from other agencies, conducted a search of the building and found nothing. After that, staff, students, parents and guardians were allowed in the building. "At no point or time was there ever a bomb in the building, nor did the student have access to create a bomb," Suber said. "Nonetheless, we must take precautionary measures to ensure our students' and staff's safety." Later that evening, detectives from the Wadsworth Police Department conducted their investigation and identified the individual responsible for the threat, he said. The individual was arrested Monday night and will face criminal charges and school disciplinary action under the student code of conduct. Medina Fraternal Order of Eagles donation On Sunday, officers from the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 2224 in Medina presented a $5,000 check as a donation to Buckeye High School students Emma Bostic and Katerina Shearer, who were accompanied by campaign manager Austin Fleischer of Blood Cancer United. The funding will go toward fighting blood cancer disorders in the Medina County area. Brunswick Optimist Club essay winners The following Brunswick High School students are the winners of this year's Optimist Club essay contest: Isabel Fregeolle won first place and $300. Winifred Brusco won second place and $200. Anthony Mendise won third place and $100. All winners will be recognized at the Optimist Club meeting at 6:30 p.m. on March 12. The group meets at Danbury Senior Living at 3430 Brunswick Lake Parkway in Brunswick. Fregeolle's essay will be forwarded to the Ohio district level to compete in the statewide competition. The Optimist Club thanked Brunswick High School teacher Christen Pinkerman for her help, guidance, promotion of this contest and dedication to her students. American International College student Gabrielle Miller, of Hinckley, earned dean's list honors for the fall 2025 semester. Morgan Vogel, of Medina, was named to the fall 2025 dean's list at Saint Francis University. Isabelle Wagner, of Medina, was listed on Upper Iowa University's dean's list for the fall 2025 semester.
