Brunswick resident recognized for her service to the community

BRUNSWICK — Cindi White, a longtime Brunswick resident, educator and business owner, was recognized by the city for her continued service to the community and contributions to education. White has been a Brunswick resident since 1986 and is the owner of the Jazzercise location in the city. Mayor Ron Falconi presented a proclamation to her during the Brunswick City Council meeting Monday to recognize her volunteer work in the community, which helps the city and its people. "I've been mayor for 10-plus years now, and I've had the honor of working with you for many years," Falconi said. "I know that you've been an instrumental volunteer here in our community." White has a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Baldwin Wallace University and a master's degree in elementary math education from the University of Akron. She worked for Brunswick Schools for 20 years, mostly teaching third grade or kindergarten at elementary schools within the district. "Following her retirement from education in (2008), Cindi has remained deeply committed to the Brunswick community through long-standing leadership and volunteer service," Falconi said. Volunteering has been a part of White's life for about six decades now. She serves as the president of the Brunswick Education Foundation and the Brunswick Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association and has volunteered with Project: Learn of Medina County and the Brunswick Food Pantry. "Brunswick is a great place to live and work," she said. "There's a lot of wonderful people here, and we also have folks that have needs that need to be filled. My mantra is, if you see a need and you can fill it, then that's what you should do." White said she was "humbled and overwhelmed" to be recognized by the city. "I don't always feel that I'm unique," she said. "I said last night at Council, as I looked around the room there, I could point out at least half a dozen people who are just as deserving of a community service award as I was."
