Cavs sign Riley Minix to two-way contract

The Cavaliers filled their roster vacancy by signing small forward Riley Minix to a two-way contract Saturday. The 6-foot-7, 230-pounder averaged 19.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.3 steals and has shot .556 from the field and .457 from the 3-point line in 12 games for the G League Cleveland Charge this season. Minix, 25, was acquired by the Charge on Jan. 12 after his rights were sent to Cleveland in a three-team trade with the Austin Spurs and Westchester Knicks. In 11 games with Austin prior to the trade, he averaged 15.5 points and 6.4 rebounds. Since coming to the Charge, he has showed off his 3-point shooting accuracy. He made 6-of-10 in a 27-point performance against the Raptors 905 on Feb. 12. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the San Antonio Spurs on Oct. 19, 2024 and appeared in four NBA games with the Spurs. The Vero Beach, Florida, native played one collegiate season at Morehead State where he was named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year in 2024. He transferred to the Eagles after four seasons at Southeastern in the NAIA. Minix is now the third two-way player on the Cleveland roster, joining Tristan Enaruna and Emanuel Miller.
