Brunswick students capture Ohio state team figure skating championship Brunswick City Schools students recently earned the title of 2026 Ohio State Team Champions at the Ohio State Team Figure Skating Championships in Shaker Heights. Brunswick High School students Bailey Kulas, Brooke Kramer, Natalie Hamm, Julianna Kulas and Brunswick Middle School student Emma Kladke competed as part of Lakeside Edges, which is a combined team with Bay Village and Rocky River schools. The team outscored 16 other high school teams to claim the championship trophy. In addition to the overall championship, the team secured placements in multiple categories, including third place team, third place production ensemble and first place solo ice dance. Local youth showcase knowledge at Ohio Beef Youth Council beef cuts identification contest Youth from across Ohio put their beef industry knowledge to the test during the Ohio Beef Youth Council Beef Cuts Identification contest held on Jan. 24 at the Buckeye Cattlemen's Summit. The beef cuts identification contest is one of five total contests available to youth through the organization's stockmanship program, sponsored by AgCredit. The contest is an educational competition open to beef industry youth and designed to strengthen participants' understanding of beef carcass composition and retail cuts. Contestants demonstrated their skills across multiple focus areas including identification, measurement, grading and marketing. Ashley Shaver of Medina County was named the second high individual of the beginner division. Leadership Medina County announces 2026 Excellence in Leadership award winners Leadership Medina County announced the recipients of its 2026 Excellence in Leadership awards as part of its 35th anniversary celebration, which will be held on March 5 at Blue Heron Event Center. The annual awards honor individuals whose leadership, service and commitment have made an impact across Medina County. Honorees are selected based on professional achievement, community involvement and positive influence in the county. The 2026 recipients are: Bill Johnson from Welser Profile North America for Excellence in Business. Steve Chrisman from the Medina County Career Center for Excellence in Education. Nancy Peacock from the Free Clinic of Medina County for Excellence in Healthcare. Suzie Muniak from the Medina County District Library for Excellence in Public Service. Dennis Hanwell, the retired mayor of the city of Medina, for Excellence in Medina County.
