Jazzercise holds grand reopening celebration in Brunswick

BRUNSWICK — Brunswick residents can start or continue their health journey through dance at the new Jazzercise location in the city. The Northern Medina County Chamber Alliance hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate Jazzercise being in Brunswick on Thursday. Owner Cindi White said she first became a Jazzercise student in 1981. She transitioned to a class manager in 2008, became an instructor in 2014 and an owner in 2021. "I've always loved the fitness aspect of it, but I also love the community aspect of it," she said. "We don't just come to exercise. We're family, and we look out for each other and support each other in the good times and the bad." Jazzercise classes are choreographed to music, and the Brunswick location currently has 10 instructors, White said. Jazzercise corporate provides between 20 and 25 new routines every month, and locations choose the routines and choreography it is interested in following. "You would start with a warm-up, and then we would take you up an exertion curve," she said. "Then, we'd bring you down, and once you cool down, then we'd finish up with some strength." Thursday's ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrated the grand reopening of the Brunswick location at 829 Pearl Road. White said she inherited her previous location in Brunswick and wanted to move so she could have something that she could call her own. "If you want to lose weight, we can help you," she said. "If you want to have a healthier heart, we can help you with that. If you want to strengthen your muscles, we can help you with that. If you just want to tone, or if you're coming here just for support, we can offer that. Right now, the only thing we can't do is hook you up with a guy because we don't have any men here anymore." "Your first class is on the house, just to give you an idea of what it's like." Chamber Executive Director Debbie Boehmke said the new location showcases White's dedication to growing with the Brunswick community, and she thanked White for investing in the city. "What makes Cindi (White) truly special is her commitment to health, wellness and her peers right here in Brunswick," Boehmke said. "She doesn't just teach fitness classes. She builds friendships, encourages confidence and creates an environment where everyone, regardless of their fitness level, feels welcomed and empowered."
