New Medina County District Library trustee sworn in Medina County District Library begins 2026 with a new trustee and a new slate of officers. Kim Krzemienieswki was sworn in at the Jan. 19 board meeting by Common Pleas Court Judge Bill Hutson, and she will serve her four-year term through 2029. The Medina County native resides in Spencer Township with her husband and daughter. She is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University where she earned a master's of applied social sciences specializing in children, youths and families. Her bachelor's degree in neuroscience and psychology is from Baldwin Wallace University. She has worked at Oberlin College and is currently in private practice. Krzemienieswki serves on the Medina County F1RST team, offering group debriefing and resourcing to first responders who have gone through significant work-related stress. She also serves on Spencer Township's Board of Zoning Appeals. She built a little free library at the end of the family driveway, and she said she loves it when anyone stops to browse. "I feel such a privilege to serve our community on the Medina County District Library board," Krzemienieswki said. "A library is a sanctuary for everyone, and books can expand our world and perception endlessly. Libraries are essential to the foundation of care, connection and wellness in our communities." The new officers on the board of trustees are President Caleb Parker, Vice President Sarah Vachon and Secretary Ann Marie Flannery. The other members of the board are Christopher Jakab, Brian Harr, William Koran and Krzemienieswki. Brunswick High School senior Justin Schuerger selected for Miami University Scholars Showcase Brunswick High School senior Justin Schuerger has been invited to the Miami University Scholars Showcase, which is extended to only the top 1 percent of Miami University's applicant pool. The invitation-only event is scheduled for Presidents Day weekend. The Scholars Showcase serves as a gateway to university scholarships, including the Presidential Fellows Program, which provides a full-ride scholarship covering tuition, fees, housing and meals, plus a $5,000 enrichment stipend. During the event, Schuerger will participate in faculty-led academic sessions, scholarship interviews and networking opportunities with university leadership, including President Greg Crawford. "We are incredibly proud of Justin Schuerger for this exceptional recognition. Being selected among the top 1 percent of Miami University applicants demonstrates his outstanding academic achievements and remarkable character," Superintendent Jason Niedermeyer said. "This invitation reflects Justin's commitment to excellence both in and beyond the classroom, embodying the skills and mindset we hope all Blue Devils develop on their educational journey. Medina community invited to free human trafficking awareness training The Medina County Coalition Against Human Trafficking will host a free community training 7-9 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Medina at 3646 Medina Road. The event is open to the public and will focus on dispelling common myths about human trafficking while providing practical information for parents, caregivers, educators and community members. Topics include the basics of human trafficking, healthy relationships, online safety and an overview of local services available to support survivors. Beth Ewing and Bailey Ewing of the Medina County Coalition Against Human Trafficking will present the training. Attendees will also have the opportunity to connect with representatives from local organizations that serve survivors of trafficking. Event check-in begins at 6:30 p.m. The event is free to attend.
