Medina High School January students of the month Medina High School seniors Margo Crandall and Brady Ryba were named the Kiwanis January students of the month. Crandall's academic schedule has included Advanced Placement, honors and College Credit Plus courses. She earned summa cum laude during her freshman, sophomore and junior years. After graduation, she will attend Lehigh University, where she plans to study either pre-medicine or engineering while continuing her soccer career as a member of the Lehigh University women's soccer team. She is the daughter of Dave and Tracy Crandall. She is an active member of the National Honor Society, HUDDLE and Key Club. In addition, she has played competitive soccer as a defender for the past four years and is a co-founder of G.I.V.E., an organization that provides social media support to nonprofit organizations. Beyond school, Crandall has worked as a dietary aide at Western Reserve Hospital. She has also volunteered at Medina Hospital as a runner and served as a Medina Recreation League soccer coach. Ryba's academic schedule includes Advanced Placement courses, and he has earned the summa cum laude during his freshman, sophomore and junior years. He serves as president of the Medina High School National Honor Society and is a member of HUDDLE. As a two-year captain of the Medina High School swim team, he is seeking his third trip to the state swim meet this year. Outside of school, Ryba works for Abercrombie & Fitch and spends his summers as a lifeguard and swim instructor at Blue Heron. He also volunteers as a peer tutor in the Joyce B. Ebner Tutoring Center, where he assists students with Spanish. Brady plans to attend the Ohio State University to study health sciences or pre-medicine. He is the son of Cameron and Kelly Ryba. Hinckley Women's Club scholarship The Hinckley Women's Club is offering two $1000 scholarships in 2026 to Hinckley residents. A scholarship will be awarded to a student pursuing a two- or four-year college degree, and the other scholarship will go to a student pursuing a technical, trade or vocational school program. The scholarships can be applied to tuition, books, supplies and other expenses. Applications must be received by March 15. Winners will be announced in April. Applications are available at Highland High School, Brunswick High School and the Medina County Career Center. It can also be downloaded at hinckleywomensclub.com. ORMACO concert planned for Sunday canceled ORMACO and the Wadsworth Public Library's Live at the Library concert series planned for Sunday has been canceled due to the expected inclement weather.
