A. Eric Kirvel

A. Eric Kirvel, born October 6, 1942, died following pancreatic illness Tuesday, December 16, 2025.After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio Wesleyan University, Eric worked at Ohio Farmers Insurance Company and then served the greater Wadsworth, Ohio, area as an agent for Westfield Insurance. He put his minor degree in botany to use throughout his life, maintaining various plants since the 1960s and bringing different species from afar to his property in Medina County, where he lived for seven decades.In mid-life, he made a second home in Northwest Montana, leaving a distinct legacy in the largely untouched North Folk of the Flathead River watershed. During his last decade of work, he enjoyed staining and finishing custom cabinets for Galehouse Lumber.He is survived by his three sons, Eric S., Adam, and Brent; their mother, Laura Kirvel-Boedicker; his brother, Robert; stepchildren, Ann and Adam; four grandchildren; plus great-grandchildren.He donated his body, as did his second wife, Linda, earlier in 2025, to Cleveland Clinic for medical-science research or instruction. Remembering his sarcasm and sense of humor, Eric would likely suggest that readers of this notice try to focus on more productive activities than an obituary, like this one.
