Raymond Michael Schmidt

Raymond Michael Schmidt passed away Thursday, December 11, 2025, at the age of 70. Born December 1, 1955, Ray lived a life marked by dedication, steady strength, and a big heart, especially for his family and the animals he loved so much. Ray proudly served his country as a United States Marine and later in the Army Reserves. His work as an avionics engineer reflected his sharp mind and calm reliability, and those same qualities carried him into a successful career in systems architecture and engineering. He was someone people could count on, thoughtful, capable, and quietly determined. Ray spent most of his life in Ohio, where he built a life and a family, and later lived in the Philippines, which he called home at the time of his passing. Wherever he lived, he had a gentle way about him and a soft spot for animals that never faded. He is survived by his wife, Alex (Ailey) Schmidt; his sister, Ilona Pufahl (Lyle Pufahl); and his daughters, Jessica Schmidt, with her children Grace and Jack, and Monika Do (Andrew Do), with their daughters Lilly, Margo, and Claire. Ray was a beloved father and grandfather, and he took deep pride in his family. A private remembrance was held overseas in his home. No additional services are planned. Ray will be remembered for his service, his bright and curious mind, his love of animals, and the care he showed in the quiet ways that mattered most. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
