New precincts and polling location changes for November election

Some Medina County residents will vote at a new polling location for the election on Tuesday. Medina County Board of Elections Director Nicole Mickley provided an election update during the commissioners meeting on Tuesday. There are 30 questions and issues alongside contested candidate races from all over the county on the ballot. "Currently, in Medina County, we have 131,265 registered voters, so down a little bit from the presidential (election)," she said. "That's to be expected with cleaning up voter rolls and things like that." The number of precincts in Medina County has increased because the Ohio Revised Code puts a limit on the number of voters in a precinct, Mickley said. The board of elections looked at precincts this summer and made changes. The following are the three new precincts: Precinct 122, which is Brunswick City 2F, will vote at Huntington Elementary School. Precinct 123, which is Brunswick Hills Township G, will vote at St. Ambrose. Precinct 124, which is Hinckley Township F, will vote at Our Savior Church. "All of the voters in those new precincts were sent postcards by mail and notified of their changes," Mickley said. "Voters were taken from several other precincts surrounding those and created the new precincts to distribute the numbers more evenly." The following polling locations have closed: Those who voted at Brunswick Hills Fire Station now vote at St. Ambrose. Those who voted at Gloria Glens Park Village Community Building now vote at Chippewa Lake Town Hall. Those who voted at the Human Services Building now vote at Medina Fire Station No. 1. Those who voted at Grace Baptist Church now vote at Applewood Elementary School. Voters who were impacted by closed polling locations were sent postcards in the mail as well, Mickley said. If voters have questions about where they should vote or what precinct they are in, they can call the board of elections at (330) 722-9278 or visit boe.ohio.gov/medina/. Voting hours are: 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. today and Friday. 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. No early voting on Monday. 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Election Day. Ballots can be returned in person, by mail or at the drop box at the board of elections at 3800 Stonegate Drive, Suite C, Mickley said. Those who are mailing their absentee ballot must have it postmarked no later than Monday, while those who are returning it in person must place it in the drop box or in the office no later than 7:30 p.m. on Election Day.
