Safeties first: Grant Delpit, Rayshawn Jenkins team up for takeaways in win over Dolphins

CLEVELAND — Grant Delpit and Rayshawn Jenkins were a dynamic, playmaking duo Sunday against the Dolphins.Cleveland's safeties linked up on a pair of turnovers — one on defense, the other on special teams — that led to 14 points for the Browns offense during a 31-6 win over Miami at Huntington Bank Field.The Browns had four takeaways — three interceptions and a fumble recovery on special teams — while committing no turnovers.Commentary: Browns have a pulse, offense comes to life in rout of Miami"They were giving out donations and everybody was getting in on them," Delpit said. "But that just happens when you put the pressure on the quarterback and execute what you got to do and catch the ones they throw to you."It was a good win, man. Jenkins, who was named captain for the week, addressed the team Saturday night and told his teammates to focus on winning every play."It kind of just came from the heart," said Jenkins, the team's No. 3 safety whose role was expanded Sunday. "I talked about just winning every play individually. So looking at the lifespan of every play, and it's really only two things that can happen is a win or a loss, and I really just encouraged our guys to check that win column more than that L column was checked."Everybody played some really good complementary football. They played together today. Everybody played some of the best football at the same time is what I was preaching. Delpit made plays all over the field, finishing with two tackles, a sack and two quarterback hits. One of the tackles came on fourth down and gave the ball back to the offense.After Cleveland's first touchdown to go up 10-3, Delpit punched the ball from kickoff return man Dee Eskridge and it fell right into Jenkins' arms, setting up Cleveland at Miami's 46-yard line. "I don't know how much better we could have played. So carry that into next weekend and go see (New England coach Mike) Vrabel."Jenkins provided an assist to former Jacksonville teammate Tyson Campbell, who was playing in his second game for the Browns after being traded from the Jaguars. Jenkins hit Miami running back De'Von Achane as he was trying to corral a high pass in the flat, and the ball popped into the arms of Campbell, who took it back for a touchdown on the opening snap of the third quarter.Campbell also had a fantastic game with two passes defended and an interception. He broke up what would have been a touchdown pass in the end zone and ran down Achane as the last line of defense to save what would have been a touchdown."The play is not over till it's over," Campbell said. "That's definitely my mindset. So I felt like I could still make a play, and that's what I try to do and use my track speed."Quinshon Judkins lifts offense with 3 TDs, work in the wildcatDelpit handed Jenkins another assist on a near-sack of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, pressuring him into an errant throw from the back of his end zone. Jenkins was the only player in the area, and he happily took the interception.He was tackled 2 yards short of the end zone, but the Browns went up 31-6 on the next play."So actually, when the ball came out, I didn't believe it," Jenkins said. "Like I was just standing in one spot on the field, and the ball literally just came right at me and I said, you know what? I'm gonna take it. Should have scored.
