Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives seeks information on Medina man

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is seeking information leading to the arrest of a Medina resident involved in a law enforcement initiative. ATF is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information about Teon Brown, 22, of Medina, for his role in Operation Double Eagle, an enhanced enforcement initiative conducted by ATF, the Akron Police Department and other agencies. Brown and Jaylyn Blackmon, 20, of Akron, were recently indicted on a count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and a count of distribution of methamphetamine in the U.S. District Court Northern District of Ohio. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Ohio announced on Thursday the unsealing of 17 federal indictments, charging more than 30 people allegedly involved in connection with firearms offenses and illegal drug violations. Ten additional defendants will face state charges, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. ATF, along with numerous federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, led the investigation and apprehension of defendants in a series of coordinated arrests that concluded on Thursday. The law enforcement initiative was conducted over 60 days and focused on Akron's more violent areas, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Ohio. Law enforcement seized 32 pistols, one revolver, six rifles, two suppressors and one machine gun conversion device, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Ohio reported. Illegal substances seized included powdered cocaine, cocaine base, heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana and fentanyl. The charges filed on Thursday coincided with the ATF announcement of a new Akron Crime Gun Intelligence Center, which will serve as an intelligence hub and coordination center for local, state and federal response to crimes involving firearms. The 17 returned indictments are separated and not related, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Ohio stated. The investigations leading to the indictments were conducted by the ATF Columbus Division's Cleveland Field Office, Akron Police Department, Summit County Sheriff's Office, Portage County Sheriff's Office, Barberton Police Department, University of Akron Police Department, and the Ohio Adult Parole Authority.
