Brunswick man indicted on meth, fentanyl charges from June 6 Elyria traffic stop

A Medina County man allegedly caught with a large amount of methamphetamine and fentanyl during a June traffic stop in Elyria is facing felony drug trafficking and possession charges. Everett Massey II, 40, of Brunswick, was indicted Sept. 12 on one count each of trafficking in drugs, possession of drugs, possession of a fentanyl-related compound, possession of cocaine and possession of criminal tools, all felonies, and a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia in Lorain County Common Pleas Court. Massey posted a $10,000 bond that had been set in Elyria Municipal Court, according to court records. The case is assigned to Judge Melissa Kobasher. Elyria police officers, who stopped his gray Subaru hatchback for multiple alleged traffic violations, arrested Massey on June 6. The car failed to signal a turn at state Route 57 and Taylor Street, went too slow in traffic, weaved in its lanes, crossed over a solid white line, almost caused a crash and moved erratically before the stop, according to an Elyria police report. Massey mumbled answers to officers' questions, said he was driving while tired and that there wasn't anything illegal in the car, according to the police report. Officers found baggies containing 59 grams of suspected methamphetamine and 4.6 grams of suspected fentanyl under the driver's seat along with other drug paraphernalia, according to Elyria police.
