Brunswick woman arrested in Pittsburgh area after Amber Alert issued

BRUNSWICK — A Brunswick woman was arrested in Pennsylvania shortly after an Amber Alert went out Sunday night for her son. The Brunswick Division of Police stated the agency received information from the Federal Bureau of Investigation regarding Tiarika Baymon, 32, of Brunswick, possibly causing harm to her seven-year-old son. An Amber Alert was then issued. Ross Township police in Pennsylvania stated their department was notified of the Amber Alert out of Brunswick. There was an arrest warrant for Baymon, which indicated her son allegedly suffered substantial abuse, torture and traumatic injuries, some of which was allegedly documented in a video Baymon posted on Instagram. Tracking information was done by Brunswick police with the local FBI office, and it placed Baymon in the area of Avalon and Ross Township, Pennsylvania. Officers from multiple jurisdictions responded to the area. Ross Township officers located her vehicle backed up against the woods in a secluded area. Ross Township officers approached her vehicle and allegedly found Baymon asleep in the driver's seat with a gun visible on her lap. The child was lying on the folded-down back seats leading into the trunk and was allegedly in distress. Baymon's son was taken from the scene to UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and allegedly had multiple traumatic injuries and possible broken bones. Ross Township Deputy Chief of Police Brian Kohlhepp said the boy has now been transferred to Mercy Burn Unit. Baymon was taken into custody by Ross Township police to be transported to the Allegheny County Jail. Brunswick police stated charges are pending against Baymon.
