David P. Heberlein

David P. Heberlein, 85, of Litchfield, Ohio, passed away Monday, September 8, 2025 at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus following a brief illness. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 31, 1940, to the late George and Olga Elsie (Zaft) Heberlein. David was an entrepreneur. He owned and operated the Heberleins General Grocery Store for over 40 years with locations in Valley City and Litchfield. A volunteer firefighter for Valley City Fire Department for many years, David was a staple of the Litchfield community and was known to many citizens in town. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, David P. Heberlein, Jr.; and a brother, George Heberlein. Survivors include his loving wife of 35 years, Kathleen Heberlein; four children, Tammy (Jay) Lippert of Wellington, Ohio, Dean Heberlein of Marblehead, Ohio, DJ Heberlein of Seville, Ohio, and Kyle K. Ackerman of Brunswick, Ohio; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Claudia Heberlein of Westlake, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews also surviving. There will be no calling hours or services. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
