Ronald E. Thomas

Ronald Eugene Thomas, 88, of Lodi, Ohio, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2025 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Rittman, following a period of declining health. He was born March 31, 1937 in Bucyrus, Ohio, to the late Frank and Theresa (Rauth) Thomas. Ron grew up in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania before his family moved to Fremont, Ohio where Ron graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1955. He went on to study at Geneva College in Pennsylvania for a short time before enrolling at Bowling Green State University, where he graduated with a Business Degree in 1960. Ron married Rena Holmes on July 10, 1971 in Litchfield, Ohio. They resided in Westfield Center before moving to Lodi in 1973. Ron worked as an Underwriter for Westfield Insurance before retiring in 1997. He was a member of Litchfield United Church of Christ Congregational and later became a very active member at Crosspointe Community Church in Chippewa Lake. During his children's school years, he was active with the Cloverleaf Music Boosters. He is survived by his wife, Rena; children, Brian (Peggy) Thomas of Wooster, Bill (Becky) Thomas of Akron; nine grandchildren, Jessie, Trista, Trina, Dustin, Eric, Joseph, Jacob, Natalie; one great-granddaughter, Nina; sister, Susan Angelone of Gibsonburg, Ohio; stepbrothers, Tom (Leah) VanAman of Sandusky, Robert VanAman of Kalamazoo, Michigan; brother-in-law, Art Thompson of Pemberville, Ohio; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Diane Thompson; stepfather, Clifford VanAman; and stepsisters, Barbara Kruk and Luella Karle. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 9, 2025 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in Parker Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi, Ohio. Funeral service will be Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at 11 a.m. in Crosspointe Community Church, 7230 Lake Rd., Chippewa Lake, Ohio. Pastor Randy K'Meyer will officiate. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the church, or the charity of the donor's choice.
