What will the Browns have more of in 2025: quarterbacks or victories?Keep in mind that so far the 2025 Browns have had as many as six quarterbacks, but they are down to a more roomy five, even though they still haven't played any games that count.The Browns also have not won any games that count, but on the plus side — fingers crossed! — nor have they lost any games that count. So they've got all that going for them.Remember when the Browns had no qualms whatsoever about starting a season with just two quarterbacks? If you don't, ask your grandfather.Ah, the good old days!There was, indeed, a time when NFL teams showed up at training camp with more than two quarterbacks, because if one got hurt you were left with just one backup.Imagine how many quarterbacks the Browns will have this year once the season gets rolling.What is the Browns' record for most quarterbacks used in a single season? I don't know, but my guess is it will probably be broken this year. So you can go ahead and take this prediction to the bank: In the 2025 season the Browns will reach double digits in quarterbacks used, and upper single digits in number of quarterbacks they almost used but changed their minds just before kickoff.So when it comes to quarterbacks, Browns fans everywhere need to relax, because when you get right down to it, how important is the quarterback position anyway?There have been 59 Super Bowl games played, and in only 32 of them was the game's MVP a quarterback. Thus, an argument could be made that quarterbacks as a species aren't necessarily that important, if your current quarterback is a future Hall of Famer.Alas, as luck would have it, the Browns don't have any luck.No NFL team, lucky or unlucky, has ever spent more time trying to find a quality quarterback than Cleveland, and no NFL team, lucky or unlucky, has spent more time not finding a quality quarterback than the Browns.Cleveland owner and noted quarterback wrangler Jimmy Haslam failed to find a quarterback even when he offered that quarterback the most obscene amount of money any NFL quarterback has ever been paid.If your current quarterback is not a future Hall of Famer, your team is not going to win many games, so who cares?Indeed, when you get right down to it, how many quarterbacks does a football team really need? If the number is six or less, the Browns are in good shape. Well, maybe not, come to think of it, since they traded one of those six quarterbacks — I forget which one — and now they are down to a mere five. (Yes, we're counting the injured Deshaun Watson and practice squader Bailey Zappe.)Talk about living on the edge! One more quarterback injury, and the Browns will be down to three quarterbacks and Dillon Gabriel's little brother.The drama of this year's camp, of course, was who would be the starting quarterback this season. By now, diehard Browns fans know the names, and are familiar with all six potential quarterbacks, except that there are only five now.In the interest of anti-brevity, Browns officials decided to cut to the chase by announcing that 40-year-old former Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco will be Cleveland's quarterback this season — at least for now, or whichever comes first.As all loyal Browns fans everywhere who care about the team remember, two years ago Joseph Vincent Flacco rode into town on a white horse and saved the season.Team officials celebrated by refusing to offer Flacco a contract for the following year.Joe rolled with the punches, while many of his fans felt like throwing some.One gets the feeling that Flacco this year will be getting plenty of playing time. Whether that translates into plenty of wins remains to be seen.In his last landing in The Land, Flacco deserved far better than the bum's rush he got from a clumsy, embarrassed organization that coldly cut him adrift after he saved their season the year before.There is a reason the Browns have never made it to the Super Bowl. Actually there are many reasons.
