More than 100 cars show up for 10th annual Granger Church Cruise-In

GRANGER TWP. — More than a hundred cars filled the parking lots around Granger United Methodist Church on Sunday as part of the 10th annual Granger Church Cruise-In. Event organizer Doug Patty said the annual cruise-in started with a couple of guys with old cars who held a small show among the church members, but it has since grown to fill the church's parking lots and sections of its yard. Patty said each year the event is spread through the local community by word of mouth and each year more cars participate. "It's amazing, our cup runneth over," he said. Through the annual cruise-in, Patty said they are able to help support those in need both near and far. "Whatever donations we get, half goes to the Highland Community Support Network," he said. "The other half goes to Midwest Missions, which is a Methodist organization for emergency response to disasters. Floods, fires, tornadoes and hurricanes. Half stays in town and half goes to help others in need." Patty said the event is a lot of fun to host, with many in the community looking forward to it every year.
