Medina County Board of Elections certifies candidates and reviews issues for November election

MEDINA — The Medina County Board of Elections certified more than 100 candidates who will run in local races this November during the board's meeting on Monday. The following races are contested in the general election: Black River Board of Education has two open spots. Brunswick city mayor Brunswick Hills board of trustees has two open spots. Buckeye Board of Education has three open spots. Cloverleaf Board of Education has three open spots in one of its races. Guilford board of trustees has two open spots. Highland Board of Education has three open spots. Hinckley board of trustees has two open spots. Homer board of trustees has an unexpired term. Lafayette board of trustees has two open spots. Medina Board of Education has three open spots. Medina city mayor Medina City Council-at-Large Medina City Council Ward 3 Medina Township board of trustees has two open spots. Montville board of trustees has two open spots. Spencer Township board of trustees has two open spots. Wadsworth City Council Ward 1 Wadsworth City Council Ward 3 Wadsworth City Council Ward 4 Westfield Township board of trustees has two open spots. York Township board of trustees has two open spots. The board of elections also reviewed the issues on the November ballot on Monday. There will be two countywide issues on the general election. One is a renewal of the Medina County Drug Advisory Committee levy, and the other is a 1.25-mill levy for the Medina County Park District. Brunswick will have its proposed charter amendments on the ballot as 11 separate ballot questions. Granger, Guilford, Harrisville, Lodi, Montville, Sharon, the Westfield Fire and Rescue District and Wadsworth Township will each have a levy for fire or EMS services. Montville Township will also have a safety services levy while Liverpool Township will have a renewal and an additional levy for police. There will also be a road levy for Harrisville Township and a parks and recreation levy for York Township. Election Day is on Nov. 4.
