New vital statistics record system prompts increase in birth and death certificate costs The Medina County Health Department is implementing the new Ohio Vitals Record System today. The statewide transition by the Ohio Department of Health aims to enhance the efficiency and security of vital statistics records. Because of the system upgrade, the Medina County Health Department cannot process birth and death certificate orders this morning. Orders will still be accepted throughout the morning, and processing will resume in the afternoon once the new system is fully operational. The cost of certified copies of birth and death certificates issued by the Medina County Health Department will increase from $25 per copy to $26 per copy. The fee adjustment is a direct result of the statewide transition to the new record system. The new system necessitates the use of specialized, higher-cost security paper for all official documents. Brittany Troyer named assistant principal at Sharon Elementary School Highland Schools announced Brittany Troyer as the assistant principal at Sharon Elementary School. Troyer has 14 years of experience as an intervention specialist and one year as an administrative intern and assistant principal at North Royalton Elementary School. She has experience supporting teachers with classroom management, differentiation and reading instruction. "Brittany brings a strong foundation in instructional leadership, data-driven decision making and special education," Superintendent Catherine Aukerman said. "We are proud to welcome her experience and energy to the Highland Local School District." Troyer also received the Franklin B. Walter outstanding educator award from Ohio's State Support Team, Region 3, in recognition of her commitment to student achievement. She received her undergraduate degree in special education from Hope College and a graduate degree in school leadership from Baldwin Wallace University.
