James 'Buck' A. Butner

James 'Buck' A. Butner, 87, of Medina, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Boissevain, Virginia on August 31, 1937, to the late Jesse Butner and Pauline (Baker) Butner. He lived in Medina, Ohio for 49 years. James was retired from Chrysler as a tool and die welder, and he took great pride in American made cars while providing for his family. James was a quiet, humble man and enjoyed spending lots of time with his family, especially his grandkids. James also had a true passion for the outdoors, spending his free time hunting deer and turkeys in Ohio and black bears in Canada. He always made good use of whatever he caught. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, James A Butner, Jr.; and by a sister and two brothers, Rose Marie (Butner) Welch, Jesse Butner, and Jan Butner. Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Joyce (Hypes) Butner; two children, Christopher Butner of Ohio and Kimberly (Butner) Haynes of Massachusetts; and his sister, Jeanie (Butner) Borden. He also has six grandchildren who he loved dearly. Services will be private. The family wishes any remembrance of James to be made as a donation to your local food bank.
