Shedeur Sanders on competing for starting job, not getting first-team reps, slowing down on highways

BEREA — Shedeur Sanders has a simple approach as he battles veterans Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel to be the Week 1 starting quarterback."I'm focused on doing me," he said Friday before the third training camp practice. "I'm focused on learning what I need to learn. That's simply it."Training Camp Log, Day 2: Quiet day for QBsThat doesn't mean he's not thinking about winning the starting job."I don't think nobody in this organization is here if they're not trying to win, honestly," said Sanders, who was a fifth-round pick out of Colorado and has mostly been fourth in the rotation. "I think they're trying to win the who gives out the best water and Gatorades out here. So it is definitely a competition. Everything in life. It's so many cameras out here. It is definitely competition with content obviously, too. So I think everything in life boils down to competition."Sanders had yet to take a repetition with the first-team offense. "I feel like if it's not in my control, so I'm not even going to think about that or have that even in my thought process of why it is."It's a lot of people that want to have the opportunity to be at this level and I'm here and I'm thankful to have the opportunity. So whenever that is, it is, but it doesn't make me feel down or it doesn't make me feel left out or anything because I know who I am as a person. "So I really don't even drive that much anymore. But I really don't drive fast at all.
