Browns introduce first all-brown helmet in franchise history, will wear it three times this season

BEREA — Brown is the new orange.The Browns announced a new all-brown "Alpha Dawg" alternate helmet that will be worn with the all-brown uniform combination during this season. They will be donned during games at home Sept. 21 vs. the Packers, Oct. 19 vs. the Dolphins and Dec. 7 vs. the Titans.The Browns, founded in 1946, have never worn brown helmets. The new edition features a matte all-brown shell, with a brown stripe between two orange stripes in the middle and an all-brown facemask."'Alpha Dawg' embodies what we set out to be as the Cleveland Browns, the leaders of the pack. We're excited about this new alternate helmet and the ode it pays to the rich history of the color brown as part of our organization, switching it up from our iconic orange helmets," Browns executive vice president and partner JW Johnson said in the news release. The second and third ones — alternate color helmets — can only be worn with one of the authorized optional uniforms. The white helmet is Cleveland's third option, along with the standard and traditional orange.
