Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities announces 2025 Stand Out Champions award recipients The Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities announced the recipients of the 2025 Stand Out Champions awards. Recipients are Melanie Kasten-Krause, Trent Fumich and Nicole Moehring. The award recognizes people in the community who have demonstrated exceptional advocacy and commitment to the developmental disability field in Medina County. "Medina County has many great champions for people with developmental differences," Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities Superintendent Stacey Maleckar said. "Melanie, Trent and Nicole exemplify the spirit of the Stand Out Champion awards. Their unwavering dedication and advocacy have profoundly impacted people within our community and helped break down the barriers they encounter, and we are honored to recognize their contributions and passion." Local college students help fight pediatric AIDS at Baldwin Wallace University's 24th annual dance marathon The following Medina County students were among the 56 participants at Baldwin Wallace University's 24th annual dance marathon, which raised more than $3,000. Proceeds go to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. The following students participated: Maddie Bohrer, of Brunswick, is a graduate of Brunswick High School who is majoring in criminal justice and psychology. Kymberli Cleal, of Brunswick, is a graduate of Brunswick High School who is majoring in music education. Hailey Fisher, of Brunswick, is a graduate of Brunswick High School who is majoring in hospitality, tourism and event management. Jillian Gillespie, of Valley City, is a graduate of Brunswick High School who is majoring in nursing. City to flush hydrants The Medina Water Department will flush fire hydrants on weekdays in July. If hydrant flushing proceeds ahead of the weekly schedule, crews may proceed to the next week's streets. If so, those streets will be marked with signage indicating hydrant flushing.
