Family of Christion Olson still looking for answers one year after he was killed

BRUNSWICK HILLS TWP. — Christion Olson's family and friends chanted his name and demanded justice while walking around Brunswick Hills Township one year after his death. The walk started at the Brunswick Hills Police Department on Sunday. The group went from Grafton Road to Topaz Lane to Emerald Lane to Substation Road while holding signs with his name and picture. "Y'all love and support and prayer is the only reason we are still able to breathe," his mother Rochelle Olson said. "We just ask that y'all continue to keep Chris' memory alive and don't give up hope. We will continue to do walks in rain, snow, shine, fall, winter, spring. We'll do them." Olson died on July 13, 2024, at the age of 18. He was a recent graduate of Medina High School, and his parents have described him as an active community member who was empathic and loving. "My son was raised the correct way with two loving parents, and right now we are here because he's not," Rochelle Olson said. "It's because of some coward who was man or woman or adult enough to take his life but can't face his parents." According to Brunswick Hills police, Christion Olson was at a gathering of friends at a house on July 12, 2024, and he left the residence at some point. About 30 minutes later, his friends say they found him injured and lying on the tree lawn near Topaz Lane in Brunswick Hills. Christion Olson died the next morning. In September 2024, Medina County Coroner Lisa Deranek declared his death a homicide, and the cause of death was listed as blunt force trauma. "I'm mad my son is not here," Rochelle Olson said. "I get to watch my nieces and nephews, his first cousins, grow up without him. I get to see that and think, why is my son not here with his family?"
