Medina County Antique Power Association's annual Engine and Power Show today

MEDINA — Tractors, antique cars, models and farm equipment are on display at the Medina County Fairgrounds today for the Medina County Antique Power Association's annual Engine and Power Show. For several decades, the Medina County Antique Power Association has hosted its Engine and Power Show at the Medina County Fairgrounds, putting antique farm equipment on display for the public to see. Today is the final day of the show from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. "Each year, we highlight one particular brand of tractors," Medina County Antique Power Association Treasurer Patrick Feron said. "This year, we are featuring Allis-Chalmers tractors. Unfortunately, they're not made anymore, but they're a big part of the agricultural history here." People attending can walk up and down the pathways, looking at the vehicles and equipment on display. In addition, there are vendors set up and food available for purchase. Tractor games will begin at 10 a.m. today behind Building 22, with a kiddie tractor pull at 1 p.m. in Building 22. On Friday, two Ohio State Highway Patrol representatives held a safety presentation, which is a new addition to the show. "Safety is paramount anytime you work with any kind of farm equipment, trailering, hauling, whether it be camping, boating, farm equipment and landscape equipment," Feron said. During the two-hour presentation, State Highway Patrol representatives talked about the dangers of distracted driving, the laws and regulations of towing and hauling equipment and best practices for securing loads. After taking questions from the audience, the two men walked outside with the group to conduct a mock inspection on a tractor-trailer equipment hauling rig. As they conducted the inspection from the front of the vehicle to the back, the State Highway Patrol representatives described what they were looking for in each step. Feron said anyone attending the show will see antique and vintage farm equipment, much of which has been restored. "It's a great event just to come out and check out some really cool equipment," he said. To learn more, visit mcapa.org.
