Buckeye Local Schools appoints junior high principal and assistant principal

YORK TWP. — The Buckeye Schools board of education on Tuesday appointed Chris Sauer as the new junior high school principal, and Paul Glazer as the new assistant principal for the intermediate school and the junior high. Sauer's most recent position was as assistant principal at Garfield Heights High School, and he was principal at Garfield Heights Middle School from 2015 to 2020. He has nearly 20 years of experience in education. "We are pleased to welcome Mr. Sauer to Buckeye Local Schools," Superintendent Jeff Stanton said. "His leadership experience, along with his focus on students' growth, school safety and community engagement will be a great asset to Buckeye Junior High School." Sauer has a master's degree of education in school leadership from Baldwin Wallace University and a bachelor's degree in education from Kent State University. He is a credentialed evaluator in Ohio's teacher and principal evaluation systems and has completed professional training in topics such as inclusive instructional practices, nonviolent crisis intervention, student safety protocols and leadership development. "I'm excited to become part of the Buckeye Local Schools community," Sauer said. "I look forward to building strong relationships with students, staff and families as we work together to support student success." Glazer has more than a decade of experience in education. He most recently served as the principal of Maple Leaf Intermediate School in Garfield Heights. Previously, he spent seven years as an assistant principal in multiple buildings at Garfield Heights Schools. "We are excited to welcome Mr. Glazer to the Buckeye administrative team," Stanton said. "His wide-ranging experience, focus on literacy and student achievement and dedication to cultivating a positive school climate will benefit both Buckeye Intermediate and Buckeye Junior High School." Glazer holds an education specialist degree in educational administration from Cleveland State University and a master's degree in education and a bachelor's degree in education and human ecology from the Ohio State University. He is licensed in Ohio as a superintendent, principal for grades four through 12 and a middle childhood math and science educator, and he has received other certifications. "Throughout my career, I've focused on creating environments where students feel supported, staff feel empowered and families feel connected," Glazer said. "I'm excited to bring that same energy to Buckeye Intermediate and Buckeye Junior High and to work alongside this dedicated team to help every student thrive." Shannon Conley was the previous principal of the junior high school and Holly Cate was the assistant principal. Both Sauer and Glazer will begin their new roles on Aug. 1.
