Physician indicted on charges of ethnic intimidation and tampering with evidence in alleged threat to U.S. Congressman Max Miller

Feras Hamdan, 36, of Westlake, has been indicted on charges of ethnic intimidation and tampering with evidence in relation to a June incident in which Hamdan is accused of threatening U.S. Rep. Max Miller, R-Rocky River, in Rocky River. Miller serves Ohio's 7th District in the U.S. House of Representatives. The state medical board of Ohio lists Hamdan as a physician active in Parma, Cleveland and Westlake. His professional record shows no complaints or board actions. According to Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael C. O'Malley, Hamdan was indicted by a grand jury on one count of ethnic intimidation, a fifth-degree felony, one count of tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, one count of aggravated menacing, a first-degree misdemeanor, and one count of menacing, a fourth-degree misdemeanor. "Threatening violence towards an elected official and their family is unacceptable and will not be tolerated," O'Malley said. "This type of mindless behavior is happening all too frequently in our country and it must come to an end. We are thankful no one was injured during this incident and for the exceptional investigation by the Rocky River Police Department which led to this prompt arrest and indictment." Hamdan's indictment stems from a June 19 incident along Interstate 90 in Rocky River, where Hamdan allegedly saw Miller's vehicle, which he began to honk at and drive next to. "Hamdan then swerved his vehicle into Miller's, causing Miller to swerve his vehicle," according to the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's office. When Miller slowed down his vehicle to allow Hamdan to pass, Hamdan "started to slow down to stay by Miller, drove next to him, and began screaming and threatening Miller," the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's office stated. As he screamed, Hamdan used vulgar language and threatened "that he was going to kill him and his family," the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's office stated.
