Three standouts newest class of Brunswick High School Hall of Fame inductees

A standout soccer player, stellar basketball player and football/baseball star make up the 2025 induction class for the Brunswick High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Jesse Marinaro, Tyler Ferrell and Gary Clift Jr. will be honored at halftime of the Blue Devils' Greater Cleveland Conference varsity football game against Lorain on Sept. 26 at Brunswick Auto Mart Stadium. The formal induction banquet will be held at 6 p.m. the next evening at the James J. Hayas Performing Arts Center at the high school. Marinaro, a 2014 Brunswick graduate, set school records for assists in a game, season and career (25) while finishing seventh in career goals (25) and fifth in points (75). As a senior, Marinaro had 18 goals and 15 assists for 51 points while earning first-team Division I All-Ohio honors. He also became the first Brunswick player since 1991 to earn first-team United States Soccer Coaches All-Great Lakes Region accolades. Marinaro went on to play at John Carroll University, were he earned Division III All-America honors in 2017. He was named Ohio Athletic Conference Midfielder of the Year as a sophomore and senior and was a three-time academic all-conference selection. For his career, Marinaro played in 82 games (55 starts) and had 37 goals and 33 assists for 107 points. The 6-foot-5 Ferrell, a 2010 grad, earned four letters in basketball with the Blue Devils and finished as the program's career leader in rebounds (655), second in games played (87) and free throws made (278), fourth in scoring (1,136 points) and fifth in field goals (416). He was also a three-year starter at tight end for the football team. An All-Gazette pick in basketball as a junior and Gazette MVP as a senior, Ferrell went on to play college basketball at Wheeling Jesuit (W.Va.) and Baldwin Wallace. Clift, a 2015 grad, was named Gazette Senior Male Athlete of the Year after outstanding high school football and baseball careers. In football, he ranks sixth in school history in receiving yards (1,042) and as a senior led Medina County in receptions (58), receiving yards (704) and receiving touchdowns (9) while earning All-Gazette honors. In a four-year baseball career, he hit .350 and posted a 1.75 ERA as a pitcher while earning All-Gazette honors his final two seasons. Clift went on to play baseball at Youngstown State, where he was named Horizon League Senior of the Year in 2020 by D1Baseball.com.
